Brief:
  • What are Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies.

  • How Felipe Neto buys bread.

  • What are the main cryptocurrencies and what are they for and why the bad guys love them.

  • What DREX will be like: Real Digital.

You pissed off hearing about this whole Cryptocurrency thing, but you've got little time 'cause there's always some drama with celebrities going down on Insta?

Alright, let's do a quick 5 minutes then!

Get the scoop and show off your tech-savvy attitude on the next gossip chat.

First, 3 boring little things:

My bad...

Pinch your nose, it's quick:

1. What is Bitcoin?

It's the first cryptocurrency in the world. And the most important too, at least for now. It was created in 2007.

2. What are Cryptocurrencies?

They are "digital money" that operate independently, without a country or ministry of the economy controlling them. They only exist thanks to a technology called Blockchain.

3. What is Blockchain?.

It's a database almost impossible to hack. [Almost] They are so safe that programs can work automatically within them, like robots.

Ugh... it's over.

Time for some gossip, which is what matters.

Just a quick questions and an cool answers. 👊🏼

DISCLOSURE: This is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to reality will have been mere coincidence.

What are the Celebs's Cryptocurrencies for?

They serve for the same thing as regular money: For Gustavo Lima to buy a private jet or... I don't know... For Viih Tube to flaunt wealth in your face, so you realize how poor you are. Not that they actually do that... I'm just imagining the scenario.

You can also use it to invest and get rich or take hits like Gisele Bündchen. Poor girl...

Felipe Neto can buy bread with Bitcoin?

Sure thing, but it sucks...

Since it's an old network, every Bitcoin transaction can take up to 10 minutes to go through. (Imagine the line at the card machine! 🤬)

But there are plenty of other super-fast cryptocurrencies that handle things easily. So, if Felipe Neto is using Bitcoin, it's probably for investments. Plus, he doesn't leave home without security because of the Bolsonaro supporters, so it's better to order bread through iFood - which doesn't take Bitcoin yet.

Bitcoin is a bandit's thing?

Yeah. Bitcoin is like a gold watch, you know? It's worth a ton of money. And crooks just love money.

Cryptocurrencies also allow for anonymous transactions, just like Swiss banks, so bad guys are even more into it – but no one complains about Swiss banks.

Bitcoin, like all money, is also for serious folks.

In fact, serious and honest people can do a lot of good things with money in hand. Swallow the freak-out and let's go make things happen!

But how can I (a not famous person) use Cryptocurrencies?

In practice, it's like buying dollars. You buy using a card or Pix on a digital exchange and keep it in a digital wallet that you access through the app on your phone or computer. Lots of folks even get their salary in cryptocurrencies now.

There are places where you can pay bills with cryptocurrencies, like property tax in Rio. Then everything stays in crypto. But there are some picky people who only accept payment in the local currency. In that case, you convert crypto to Brazilian Real in the exchange app and send a Pix payment.

End of story.

It's the same for the celebrities. Except they're rich and pay someone to do it for them.

Which famous people already use Cryptocurrencies??

The most known are Sasha Meneguel, Neymar, Gisele Bündchen, Roberto Justus, Justin Bieber, Serena Williams, Logan Paul, and Gary Vee among others. All people smarter than you. So, here's the tip.

But there aren't a lot of people getting scammed because of Cryptocurrencies?

Yeah, there's also the PIX scam, the card PIN trick, the fake prison kidnapping, the kickback scheme, the Rouanet Law thing, the Emergency Aid hustle, the relative asking to borrow your name for credit, the package filled with rocks on e-Bay, the pregnancy scam, the treasure chest con, the insurance swindle, the fake widow scheme, the pension scam for Social Security...

The world can be such a crapshow sometimes...

Scams with cryptocurrencies happen mainly because:

  1. The technology is still not well understood, and people don't know how to protect themselves properly;

  2. Cryptos offer anonymity in various situations, which helps the thief;

  3. Because they can make loads of money super quickly. So, people get greedy and fall for some con artist's talk due to their greed and lack of experience.

Educate yourself before diving in. Seek out trustworthy folks and shield yourself every which way you can. Not only against this scam, but all the others too.

What is Ether? (From Ethereum)

It's a classy Cryptocurrency like Marina Rui Barbosa: It gives a lot of morale, but you need to pay a drool in fees to operate with it.

What is Poly? (From Polygon)

It is a "daughter-like" Cryptocurrencies of Ethereum. Very cool, much cheaper, but it has that taste of low clergy like Claudia Leite. It's a big show, shake the crowd, but everyone thinks: Ahhh if it were an Ivete Sangalo...”😞

Is investing in Cryptocurrencies risky?

Yeah. It's like a crazy stock market. It can bring in astronomical gains and terrifying losses. To get into this, you need help from folks who know the business!

Is it true that Neymar lost millions with those Monkeys?

Neymar's Monkeys: NFTs, Not Cryptocurrencies - Learn more in our article "What is an NFT?"

He snagged his NFTs during the big hype (when NFTs were crazy expensive), and now the scene's gone cold (everything's way cheaper).

If he sells now, he's gonna be down A LOT of cash.

But folks buying a million-buck monkey ain't fools... Those holding these power-packed NFTs usually wait for the market to boom again, aiming to cash in big.

And to wrap it up:

What's the deal with DREX, this thing called REAL DIGITAL?

DREX is the digital version of the Brazilian Real, the country's currency. It uses the same technology as cryptocurrencies, but it's not really considered a cryptocurrency because it's controlled by the Brazilian government, unlike Bitcoin, Ether, or Poly which are independent.

It's set to kick off for real by late 2024 and the beginning of 2025.

It's gonna flip our lives upside down, seriously. We'll be able to pay for everything digitally, and DREX comes with some fancy control systems.

When we buy a car or an apartment, the ownership transfer will happen instantly with the payment, blocking a bunch of scam opportunities.

Plus, money can be issued with a "locked destination": Let's say the government allocates millions for building a road, for instance, this digital money won't budge for anything else, and every penny can be traced in everyone's accounts and pockets, forever. This makes it super tough for all those corruption games and fund diversions we're so used to today.

That's just the beginning, and it's gonna take a little while to really get rolling. So, in the meantime, figure out how to become a millionaire, because the world is flipping while you're just watching life (other people's lives) scroll through Insta Stories!
